Polycarbonate
is a polycondensate of diphenylolpropane and phosgene (carbonic acid chloride). Since all carbonic acid derivatives are carbonates, the polycondensate is called polycarbonate. Polycarbonate sheets are produced by extrusion method from polycarbonate granula only.

A practical alternative to glass, polycarbonate has been widely used lately in:

construction:
 -  light-diffusing roofing
 -  minor architectural structures

advertising:
 -  outdoor advertising (signage)
 -  display stands
 -  shop fronts
 -  lighting equipment

agriculture:
 -  growing houses
 -  winter gardens
 -  greenhouses

Features
High light transmission
Thermal stability
High impact resistance
Light weight
High chemical resistance (to different type of salts, mineral acids, spirits, UV light, environmental conditions — temperature variations, etc.)

Polycarbonate is produced in textured (cellular polycarbonate) and solid (solid polycarbonate) sheets of various thickness and colors.
